At UC Davis, our research is rooted in a public promise: to deliver discoveries and innovations that improve lives, strengthen communities, fuel the economy and create a sustainable future.
Our talented faculty, staff and students reach beyond the expected to deliver insight and solutions that touch the lives of so many.
This past year, we continued to deliver on our promise with a broad range of impact reflected in this report. Examples include a brain-computer interface that allows a person with paralysis to control a computer cursor through thought, forest fuel treatments that slow wildfire spread and prevent $2.8 billion in damage and an artificial intelligence-powered tool giving farmers real-time information supporting more precise, sustainable decisions.
Innovation is also flowing from our labs into communities. Last year, UC Davis researchers submitted 201 invention disclosures. Our Technology Transfer Office submitted 197 patent and other intellectual property filings and executed 32 license and option agreements.
These contributions are made possible by strategic investments from tax-funded government agencies, industry partners, foundations, donors and more—each leveraging the university’s deep expertise, unique interdisciplinary collaborations and state-of-the-art resources.
I also want to acknowledge our team at the Office of Research who work tirelessly to enable opportunities, ensure compliance and provide the resources needed to conduct the world-class research that UC Davis is known for.

Resnick Center for Agricultural Innovation
In May UC Davis celebrated the grand opening of the Resnick Center for Agricultural Innovation, a state-of-the-art facility designed to transform agricultural research, teaching and outreach while accelerating solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges in food systems and sustainability.
